Bethany's wildflower wedding bouquetsThis bouquet makes me so happy… It may very well be my favorite bouquet of the year! Bethany is a spunky redhead who got married in her friend’s backyard. She wanted something natural and cheerful, featuring her favorite flower, daisies. Her bridal bouquet featured dahlias, daisies, sunflowers viking poms, zinneas, amaranthus, greenery, ferns, and even wildflowers from my back yard, all in bright shades of orange, green, and yellow. Her maid of honor carried a bouquet in the same color scheme, without the white daisies. Little monticasino flowers (they look like mini daisies) added a fun touch of whimsy to the bridesmaid’s bouquet.  It looks like these bouquets came straight from the garden, doesn’t it?

I also love these wildflower boutonnieres. No two are the same! Flowers include dahlia buds, viking poms (they look like little sunflowers), safflower (thistle-looking bud with orange tuft) , montecasino (mini daisies), and fern. The daisy boutonniere is for the groom.

I really enjoyed working with such a carefree and fun bride… huge thanks to Bethany for letting me be a part of her big day!

modern wedding archChristy was married at Bridal Veil Lakes, an absolutely stunning outdoor venue. She wanted the beautiful lakeside arch to be decorated… but she didn’t want a basic floral arch along the top. Christy is a hip marketing professional, so she wanted something to reflect her modern tastes. Instead of a large arrangement at the top of the arch, we did two large arrangements at each corner.

arch-rightThe arrangements were natural and unstructured, designed with spider mums, hydrangea, snapdragons, bells of ireland, stock, and  hanging amaranthus. Springeri fern and boxwood trailed along the arch from each arrangement. Three smaller arrangements accented the arch, one on each side at the bottom, and one in the center top. Her vibrant colors really popped against the trees and lake in the background!

    arch-center
We created two different centerpieces for Christy’s reception, all in the same vibrant shades of purple, green, and magenta. The first was a low round arrangement in a compote vase. The second arrangement was more free-form and a bit taller. Together they set a gorgeous background for Christy & Chris’s wedding reception.

inglis-bride-bouq-2This week I had the pleasure of doing flowers for Lisa and Tim’s wedding. They were married in the beautiful Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood. This was my first wedding in this quaint chapel, and I hope to do more! Lisa chose colors that complimented the chapel perfectly, right down to blue hydrangeas that coordinated with the lush blooming hydrangea bushes at the chapel’s doors.

Lisa’s bridal bouquet featured purple lisianthus, lavender and purple calla lilies, blue and green hydrangeas, green spider mums, and hypericum berries. This may be one of my favorite bouquets ever! I’m normally not a huge fan of calla lilies, but the gorgeous purple and white variety shown here really makes the bouquet pop.

Lisa’s bridesmaids carried coordinating bouquets in shades of green and blue with touches of purple.  Flowers included hydrangea, pom flowers, spider mums, and sweet peas. I think these are such sweet and romantic bouquets, and they looked fantastic next to the maid’s purple dresses.  I love how these bouquets coordinate without being too “matchy-matchy.”

ingils-altarHave I mentioned how much I love the Oakes Pioneer Church? I mean, really… how sweet is this? What a romantic place to get married! There are only about 8 rows of pews, many of which are the original pews from 1883. LOVE it!

inglis-bw1 I love this photo.  I know you can’t see the color, but I think it captures the beauty anyway.

Congratulations to Lisa and Tim… thank you for inviting me to be a part of your big day.

    bride's bouquet

    obrien-maid-2

Jessica had a definite vision for her wedding. She wanted her flowers to be romantic and classic… and I think that’s exactly what she got! Her bridal bouquet features peonies, roses, and stock in shades of ivory. Painted eucalyptus seeds added the finishing touch. Her bridesmaid’s carried a long, lean bouquet of cymbidium orchids and calla lilies, also accented with painted eucalyptus seeds. It’s amazing how a simple bouquet can be so elegant…. but then again, flowers just don’t get much more elegant than calla lilies and orchids!

The roses and orchids were from Portland rose grower Peterkort Roses. The standard ivory rose is called “Vendella” and the gorgeous creamy coffee colored garden roses are called “Karmel Antike”.  And… I’ll let you in on a little secret. The peonies? They’re actually garden roses, hybrid to look like a peony. I used a variety called “Helga Paige”. We’re lucky to be here in the Pacific Northwest where we have access to such amazing flowers!

Jessica’s wedding was full of personal touches. I think my favorite were the strings of beads she created using her Great Aunt’s jewelry. I draped the beaded garlands on her guest table centerpieces. These simple cylinder flower arrangements were made extraordinary with the addition of the beads, don’t you think?

The ceremony was held at the Bell Tower Chapel in Boring, OR. Such a beautiful location! The chapel and reception space are small, but so completely romantic and beautiful. After an hour or so, the whole chapel smelled of roses and peonies…  which only added additional romance.

monogram As always, the bouquets were delivered to Jessica in a Blumebox. I love to create a monogram for my brides… it allows me to combine my love of flowers with my love of paper crafting.

Huge thanks to Jessica and Michael for letting me be a part of their wedding. I really enjoyed getting to know both of them.

kerr-bouq-bride1kerr-bouq-maidsVanessa wanted a romantic bridal bouquet  in shades of ivory and cornflower blue. Her light and airy bouquet features cymbidium orchids, roses, hydrangeas, grape hyacinths, and little hyacinth blooms. Her bridesmaids carried posies of hydrangeas, spray roses, carnations, pom flowers, and grape hyacinths. kerr-bouts
    kerr-bout-close-up
I’ll admit it… I’m usually not a big fan of boutonnieres. (sorry, gentlemen!) However, I must admit that I absolutely LOVE these! The groom’s boutonniere featured a calla lily, the groomsmen had a spray rose, and the family wore pom flowers. All boutonnieres featured grape hyacinths. Don’t you just love them?! I’m feeling some fresh inspiration for boutonnieres…

I believe that little details make a big impact. This monogram decorated Vanessa’s bouquet box. Fun, huh? It’s my hope that these finishing touches help to make a bride feel extra-special on her wedding day.

Congratulations Vanessa. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

Orchids  are always beautiful, of course… but this time of year in the Pacific Northwest they are absolutely amazing. I loved using these buttery yellow cymbidium orchids for a bridal show last weekend.

    grace-arrangement

Fantastic, right?! This arrangement was a centerpiece for a 6 ft. dining table. A larger version could also be used as a ceremony arrangement… perfect for your communion table or altar. This gorgeous arrangement in shades of yellow, red, and orange features cymbidium orchids, roses, kangaroo paw, button poms, and greenery. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit I have no idea what the delicate white flowers are. They grow on a bush in my neighbor’s field and I just fell in love… :o )

graces-bouquetOrchids, especially cymbidium orchids, bring a very elegant touch to a bridal bouquet. This bouquet is simply to die for – even if I do say so myself!

Don’t you just love the cool vase this bouquet is displayed in? It’s my newest fab find from BlumeBox http://www.blumebox.com I use these nifty biodegradable boxes to present bouquets to my brides and bridesmaids. These boxes allow bouquets to remain in water, while being super-easy to transport. A bit of ribbon and your monogram are the finishing touch!

If you’re getting married, give me a call. I would love to design bouquets and arrangements that fit your personality… AND stay within your budget.

The bouquet above is $139; the arrangement is $119

succulent-bouq-1I am so in love with succulents right now. They are such a gorgeous alternative to traditional flowers in a wedding bouquet! Here is a sweet little bouquet I did for the Firstenberg Bridal Show on February 13.

This bouquet features succulents, ranunculus, freesia, godetia, waxflower, and breathtaking lady slipper orchids.

I’m so excited to be working with a bride that wants lots of succulents in her flowers. I can’t wait to be a part of this “woodsy elegant” wedding! Here guest tables will have lots of different types of arrangements… some potted succulents, sweet vintage glasses with flower arrangements, and even logs with moss and succulents.

succulent-centerpieceHow cool is this centerpiece?  I simply attached succulents to a gorgeous moss-covered log. Simple elegance at its best!

If you’re looking for wedding flowers that are outside the ordinary, give me a call! I specialize in creating hip, stylish bridal bouquets that fit your personality and your budget.

    snapdragon studio logo

As my first year as a “real florist” comes to a close, I can’t help but look back and reflect. I absolutely LOVED my summer packed with weddings. Of course there were some long days (and nights) of designing, several sleepless nights where I couldn’t stop thinking of flowers, and more than a few times of wondering what the heck I’d gotten myself into! But along the way I learned a LOT, refined my personal design style, and met some really amazing brides.

I am such a lucky woman. I have the opportunity to do something I really love, while still being able to spend most of my time with my two amazing little boys. I couldn’t ask for much  more!

As I began preparing for the 2010 wedding season, I realized that my logo just wasn’t working for me. I feel it doesn’t adequately represent my style or personality. Thus I began trying to design something a little more “me”. I think this new design better reflects my style and represents my business. I’d love to hear what you think about my new look!
    show-card-square

Look for changes to my website in the next few weeks. I’m looking forward to freshening things up a bit!

And yes, you do see two versions of the logo. I just couldn’t decide which flowers to use, so I’m using several different illustrations. I  may settle on one… or I may just use different versions for different uses.
And that, my friends, is most definitely “me”.

Sometimes I just connect with a bride… Sarah is one of those brides! She had a simply elegant vision for her wedding, and I really enjoyed being a part of her big day. jones-brides-bouq-2
    jones-maid-bouq-3
Sarah loves simple garden flowers, and asked for carnations, gerbera daisies, mums, dahlias, and asters in her bouquet. Her colors were dark purple and orange. We accented her bouquet with touches of lime green and yellow.

Sarah’s bridesmaid’s wore dark purple dresses, so we made their bouquets in shades of orange, green, and yellow; featuring the same fower varieties as the bride’s bouquet. We also added green spider mums, a favorite of the bride’s sister and bridesmaid Lori. Sarah and Lori were such fun to work with, I really enjoyed getting to know them a bit.

The wedding and reception were held at the beautiful Fairgate Inn in Camas. I had the pleasure of working with their fabulous wedding coordinator Stacey Young. Not only is she a kick in the pants, she happens to be a great floral designer… visit her on the web at www.staceysflowers.vpweb.com.

jones-table-31 jones-centerpiece2Sarah chose low cube centerpieces for her reception tables. We used the same flowers as her bouquets, with the addition of sunflowers. No two tables were exactly alike! jones-brides-table1

The family table featured a larger focal centerpiece. You can’t tell in these photos, but all of the arrangements had submersed lights. Between the subtle glow of the vases and the votive candles on each table, the room became absolutely romantic at sundown!

I had the opportunity to work with Tony from Images by Floom Photography I can’t wait to see some of his images from Sarah’s wedding. I’ll be sure to share them when I can.

Huge thanks to Sarah for letting me design her flowers for her wedding. I had a blast…

smiling brideIsn’t this bride absolutely gorgeous?

I had the pleasure of making Grace’s wedding flowers this past weekend. She and Cole had a beautiful wedding in the hills of Washougal, at the home of Cole’s parents. The ceremony took place in a simple yet beautiful field, which was the perfect backdrop for a perfect day!

Grace’s wedding bouquet was white with pink and purple accents. Flowers included Bianca roses, dahlias, snapdragons, irises, snow berries, and the most breathtaking hydrangeas I have ever seen.

For the groom, a simple pink rose boutonniere with a snow berry accent. The bridesmaid’s carried mixed garden bouquets in shades of pink with purple accents. Flowers included dahlias, pink  roses, and hydrangeas.
