The Modern Cascading Bridal Bouquet

3 Feb

Modern cascade bouquet featuring romantic garden roses, kale, orchids, sweet peas, lisianthus, tuberose, eucalyptus seeds, and renunculus. (Flowers by Snapdragon Studio)

Utter the word “cascading bride’s bouquet” and you’ll often be met with a cringe and frown from today’s brides. The term brings to mind the huge, stiff, unnatural -  and dare I say ugly? – bouquets of the 80s and 90s. Not at all what the modern bride wants to carry on her wedding day!

Today’s cascading bouquets are much more organic in look and composition. The cascading elements in the modern bouquet are created by the natural shape and lines of the flowers, rather than by forcing straight stems into a foam and plastic bouquet holder.

This sassy modern cascade bouquet features calla lilies, dahlias, popcorn hydrangea, freesia, fern curls, mini hydrangea, bear grass, and orchids. (Snapdragon Studio)

Some of my favorite flowers to use in a modern cascading bride’s bouquet are calla lilies, freesia, sweet peas, orchids (phalenopsis, dendrobium, cymbidum, or mokara), lisianthus, and garden roses. Seeded eucalyptus, bear grass, italian ruskus, and feathered eucalyptus are some of the greens I like to use to accentuate the shape of a cascade.

Sometimes a few trailing elements are all you need to add a bit of drama to your wedding bouquet. (Snapdragon Studio)

If you’re a modern bride looking to add a little drama to your wedding day, a cascading bouquet may be just the thing for you. I’d love to talk to you about your wedding flowers, call or email me today to set up a free consultation.

Smiles,
Jennifer
